Woodland Retreat

Located in the deepest point of Sachem Cove on Lake Winnipesaukee, our clients approached us with a goal of incorporating the existing house with a new native inspired landscape. Thoughtful interventions of stormwater management techniques seamlessly blended green technology with the clients goals for access, recreation, and sustainability. River rock swales for drainage incorporating native plantings infiltrate water into the landscape, while reclaimed granite slabs were repurposed from other sites rather than fabricated from newly quarried stones. These large pieces of history were used as banding on the driveway, and to edge the new perched beach and gaming area. Irregular bluestone stepping stones and Pennsylvania fieldstone steps lined through swathes of native fern sod connect you to all of the property’s recreational amenities.
